Classic Event: Timm Road North Fall Series

This is a brand new map on land surrounding the Canmet complex on the north side of Timm Road. The terrain is varied with white open woods but also dense green patches. Part is heavily trailed while other areas have no trails at all. The patches of trees in semi-open areas were easier to see before the leaves fell off. There is bare rock, rocky ground and rough open fields. There is even an area with lots of contours with cliffs. I hope you enjoy the map.
Areas marked as marsh on the map may not be wet at this time.
The field work was done this past summer using Real Time GPS. I will have my tablet and GPS device with me for those interested in seeing a brief demo.
This is Coach Jennie’s year end wrap-up event for her OttawaOC Kids Program. The program is designed to physically and mentally challenge 8 to 14 year old kids through orienteering while having lots of fun.
The usual four courses are available:
Novice - 2.8 km
Intermediate - 3.9 km
Short Advanced - 4.5 km
Long Advanced - 6.7 km
Registration is from 10:00 - 11:00 and the starts from 10:30 - 11:30. The Arena is located on the north side of Timm Road 500m east of the parking lot or 300m east of Haanel Drive. Recommended parking is the parking lot or along Haanel Drive north of Timm Road.
All participants must report to the finish by 14:00.
Word of caution - There are several nasty rocky holes approximately a foot in diameter and bare rock with foot wide crevices - be sure of your footing! This is especially true for the Advanced courses.
