SOAR #3 (Summer Orienteering/Adventure Race): Barrhaven Royal Oak Summer Orienteering

Here is what we have for you next Tuesday, Aug 11 at the Royal Oak Barrhaven. That is just off Strandherd Road at Cedarview South.
- Score Orienteering – pure score orienteering. One hour to punch in at as many controls as you can.
- Two different courses: Short Score – suitable for novice/ intermediate orienteering experience.
- Long Score- suitable for every level of experience
- Two different times to start: 6-7 PM individual starts, one-hour to complete the course, Short Score only.
- About 9 PM (after dark) Mass start for night-O Short Score and Long Score. (The time allowed is the same; the distance and difficulty are different)
This is a bit different from Summer Solstice Score-O
- Points have different values depending on distance/ difficulty. The strategy is to maximize your points earned in the time available.
- No reduction in controls to get per handicap. You will be ranked against people with the same handicap.
- Participants will exchange cards to mark their own scores.
- Some lucky participants will win $25 Royal Oak gift certificates on the spot.
