This all day course is Orienteering Canada's official Community Sport Coach Program, set up in partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC). Coaches that take this course will be deemed as trained (not certified because there is no exam or certification process following the course) and registered as a trained coach with the CAC.

The course will take place at the Mlacak Centre in Kanata (2500 Campeau Dr.) from 9:00 to 5:30 on Saturday May 5th.

The material is divided into 3 segments as follows:

Segment 1

Setting the Scene - 60 min
Participants and Their Sport Needs - 30 min
Ethical Coaching - 90 min

Segment 2

The Equipment and Rules of Orienteering - 30 min
Practice Planning and Orienteering Safety - 60 min
Practice Coaching Session #1 - 1hr 45 min

Segment 3

Tasks of the Community Coach - 30 min
Getting Ready for Competitions - 30 min
Practice Coaching Session #2 - 1hr 30 min
Workshop Wrap-up and Evaluation - 20 min


Club coaches Jeff Teutsch and Jennie Anderson will be leading the course.
