Winter Orienteering on the SJAM Winter Trail on Skis, Fat-bike or Foot!

Family Day, Monday, Feb. 17th

In partnership with the SJAM Winter Trail, Orienteering Ottawa is again thrilled to be hosting a Winter Orienteering Event for Skiers, Fat-bikers, Walkers, Runners and Snow-shoe-ers! Everyone is welcome!

The Registration, Start and Finish will be at the Nordic Village beside the Remic Rapids parking area.

For Family Day, we have designed two fun courses for families and individuals who are newer to orienteering. We will have club members on hand to explain orienteering and get you going on your courses!

Regular Short Course (2.7 km, 10 checkpoints)

Regular Long Course (4.0 km, 13 checkpoints)

For folks with orienteering experience (who want a bit more navigational challenge) we have designed two more advanced courses:

Advanced Short Course (5.4 km, 12 checkpoints)

Advanced Long Course (8.8 km, 17 checkpoints)

All distances above are straight-line routes. The actual distance traveled on skis or bike or foot will be longer depending on the route taken! For each of the four courses above, we will have three sub-classes (ski, bike or foot) according to your chosen method of propulsion.

Registration will be open on-site from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Our normal meet fees apply. For this event, part of your fee will be donated to the SJAM Winter Trail. You will be provided a map of your course and a loaner electronic timing stick. You can report to the Start and get going anytime between 10:15 am until 11:30 am. Courses close at 2:00 pm; please report back to the Finish before 2 pm or we will start looking for you!

Please be considerate of other Winter Trail users who may be travelling slower than you ! Kindly observe the SJAM Winter Trail etiquette at all times! : http://www.wintertrail.ca/trail-etiquette/

We hope you will join us for a wonderful day out on the SJAM Winter Trail !
