Map: Bate Island

This week's training session consists of a series of orienteering intervals on a 1:2000 scale micro orienteering map.  The session will be all about reading ahead, knowing the location of your next few controls and picking out your control feature from a distance.  Similar to what we were practicing at College St. Alexandre on April 17th but a little bit faster, with more changes in direction and with all the controls on very similar features.  These skills are vital for orienteering on very small scales maps but are also useful for regular orienteering and will ultimately make you a better (and faster) orienteer.  As usual we will start and end with a group discussion where we can share ideas and I can give you some tips and feedback about what you are doing well and can improve on.

Important note: We will be using SI timing for this session so bring your SI sticks as well as all of your usual gear.

Meet at the parking lot at the East end of Bate Island at 6:30 for discussion.  We will be heading out on course around 7:00.
