Hello orienteers, it’s time for the start of the 2016 Spring series! We’ve got fingers crossed for warm and sunny weather this week (after Monday). The woods are about one third melted now, and the snow should go pretty fast with warmer sunny weather in the forecast. I expect it to be pretty much bare by next weekend.
For those not familiar with the area, the entire woods has sandy soil, and water just drains away into the ground. There are no boulders streams or cliffs but there is lots of rolling dry terrain and some of the woods is pretty open and fast. Think CONTOUR LINES especially on the south side of the map. There will be the usual four courses, with the Novice at 2.1 km, Intermediate at 4.1 km, Short Advanced 5.3 km, and Long Advanced 7.6 km. The registration will start at 10:00, and first starts are at 10:30. More details are on the website here.
