Pine Road Classic Event Fall Series
October 9th 2016 10:00am - 2:00pm
Map: Meech Valley
Meet Directors/Controllers: Mark Gibbard, Anita Brattland
This Sunday, October 9th, we welcome you all to participate in our first event on the brand new Meech Valley South (P16) map in Gatineau Park. This is a beautiful area of woods and hills to the south of trail 50, and the fall leaf colours will be fantastic. The eastern part of the map is rocky and very technical; the western part of the map has some glorious open maple forests and more gentle hills.
Parking and registration for the event will be located at P16 Vallée-Meech Parc de la Gatineau, Chemin Pine, Chelsea, QC
COURSES:
Novice: 3.7 km, 14 controls, 60m climb (Scale 1:7500)
Intermediate: 3.7 km, 12 controls, 70m climb (Scale 1:7500)
Short-Advanced: 3.9 km, 13 controls, 125m climb (Scale 1:7500)
Long-Advanced: 5.3 km, 18 controls, 220m climb (Scale 1:7500)
Extra-Long-Advanced: 7.5 km, 23 controls, 290m climb (Scale 1:10,000)
This new area has fewer trails than our other Gatineau maps and for that reason, the Novice course is slightly longer than normal to make a very pleasant loop that is mostly along trails. There will be one leg that is off-trail and will follow streamers through the forest (for both intermediate and novice courses). A few trails are faint, so where necessary, we have hung streamers along those trails to make them more visible. Short and Long Advanced courses are a shorter distance than normal due to the very physical nature of this Gatineau Park terrain. This time only, we are also offering the option of an Extra-Long-Advanced course for those that really want to enjoy this fine new map with a demanding course.
Registration at P16 from 10-11 am
Start between 10:30 and 11:30 am
All courses will close at 2 pm; please report back to the finish before this time!
Hope to see you all out there on Sunday to add this wonderful new map to your collection!
Regards,
