Shirley's Bay Classic Meet Fall Series
October 1st 2017 10:00am - 2:00pm
Map: Shirley's Bay
Meet Director: Bruce Brenot, Controller: Francis Kawam
Join us on a NEW MAP. Large forests of hawthorn trees make it
challenging to take a direct route. Map reading skills are necessary to
avoid the worst of the hawthorns.
The usual four courses are available:
Novice – 2.4 km with map scale of 1:7500
Intermediate – 3.1 km, map scale 1:7500
Short Advanced – 4.4 km, Map scale 1:7500 with 17 controls
Long Advanced - 8.4 km, map scale 1:10000 with 29 controls NOTE: if you have an old style SI5 stick, be careful. Your SI only holds 30 controls.
Registration
is from 10:00 - 11:00 and the starts from 10:30 - 11:30.The arena is at
the P2 parking lot off Carling Ave, west of Moodie Drive . Overflow
parking is on the shoulder of Carling Ave. There is lots of room along
this stretch of Carling Ave for cars to pull off the road safely.
Please note this area has poison ivy, ticks, hawthorn trees and wild parsnip.
Poison
ivy is in the area. Take action by wearing full leg cover and remove
and wash clothes and legs carefully after the race. This is not a
concern for the novice course. You could also encounter ticks, so as always do yur tick check following the race.
All participants must report to the finish by 2:00 pm.
