March Highlands Navigation Training Thursday Orienteering Practice
May 24th 2018 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Map: March Highlands
Parking and meeting point: Old Second Line Rd at Klondike Rd in Kanata. Park on the side of the road and we will meet at the trail head there. The start of the courses will be in a little ways along the trail.
Training: This week we will be expanding on the choose your own focus exercise from last week. At the start of the exercise there will be a discussion on what you might choose to focus on. This week, we suggest you do a warm-up and/or a mental pre-orienteering routine before starting the course. We will discuss what this might look like but essentially you should be reminding yourself what your goals are and visualize yourself going through your goals and important routines that you want to focus on during the training session or race.
Everyone will have a chance to discuss their goals and process before they go on course and to debrief afterwards.
There will be small flags in woods with no SI nor control codes. There is a 4.1 km intermediate course and a 4.6 km advanced course to choose from.
A reminder to please e-mail Jeff Teutsch at programs@ottawaoc.ca by noon on Thursday to reserve a map. We do not guarantee maps for those that don't send an e-mail.
