Map: Buckingham

Champboisé, a fabulous 165 acre parcel of land owned by the Municipality of L'Ange-Gardien, and bordered by the Lièvre River. Please read through the below information and make sure you note the Quebec covid-specific requirements at the bottom.

For the second year now, Corporation plein air de la Lièvre is graciously hosting our club for the day, and we're happy to offer you 4 courses to choose from:

  • Novice (16 controls/2.1km): A mix of trails and open fields, with easily findable controls and a tree (and often turkey!)-lined promenade. Novice orienteers will pass through some of the same controls a number of times (but from different directions!).
  • Intermediate (15 controls/3.5km): A step up in navigation difficulty from Novice, with most controls set not far from trails or easily recognizable features.
  • Short Advanced (16 controls/3.7km): Most navigation will occur off-trail, with more than one good route available between controls. Flags are set on recognizable features in at-times quite technical terrain. Compass bearings will be required.
  • Long Advanced (22 controls/5.8km): Similar to the Short Advanced in difficulty, but with longer control legs and more zig-zagging across the map. Don't be dissuaded by the shorter-than-normal course length, the hills and technical features will more than make up for it.

All maps are at 1:7,500 scale. This is a nice, 'navigationally'-forgiving area that may provide an opportunity to attempt orienteering at a higher level than usual.

Location & notes

Champboisé: 1521 309 Rte L'Ange-Gardien, QC

  • Please park in the first (upper) parking lot and walk down to the main grounds. https://goo.gl/maps/jRzYHApoBhWHGftP9
  • The main barn/building at the bottom of the hill (between the start and finish) has been taped off and out-of-bounds. Toilets are found about 200m south of the barn along the main trail.
  • There could be many other trail users in the area. Please be respectful of people's space, especially when passing on trails.
  • Some trailwork is being done, mostly just to the south of the parking area. Take care on slippery bridges

Dogs are not allowed on the property.

Registration

Online only, opening this Thursday, closing Saturday 11:59 pm or when spaces are filled. See below for more info.

Please note that as this weekend's event is being held in Quebec, COVID protocols mandate that for anyone over the age of 12, proof of vaccination (showing dates of BOTH vaccinations, along with government ID) is required and will be checked on-site at registration.

Hope to see you Sunday!
