Constance Bay Fall Series
November 7th 2021 10:00am - 2:00pm
Map: Constance Bay
Meet Director: Paul Lefebvre | Controller: Mary Ellen Connolly
For the last event of the Fall Series, we are again back at Constance Bay. For some extra fun this weekend, we are going to change the format and have all of the participants on the Advanced courses start 2 at a time.
One will have an A map and the other a B map. The Short course will have 2 sets of butterfly loops and the Long course 3 sets. Most of the controls in a loop are relatively close together, so some loops will feel more like a forest Sprint event. The idea is that you pair up ahead of time with someone who runs at a similar pace to you. You will be at the same controls around the same time either 6 or 9 times during the event. This will give you an idea of how you are doing relative to each other during the event. If you have been swapping positions on the results table with someone all season, this will be a fun way to settle things before the snow flies. If you haven't paired up with anybody, no problem, you will just be randomly given map A or B.
If any Intermediate participants have wondered when they should try out a Short Advanced course, Constance Bay is a great location. Most of the Intermediate controls are also on the Advanced course. You are rarely more than 100m from a trail, so if you miss a control on the first attempt, rather than running around in circles, you can quickly get to the nearest trail and attack it again. All of the flags will be placed high off the ground, so if you are in the correct location, you should see it.
Given the relatively flat terrain and numerous trails on the map, we have made the courses a bit longer this weekend, so you can take full advantage of the area.
Novice: 2.7 km and 15 controls
Intermediate: 4.0 km and 15 controls
Short Advanced: 5.6 km and 18 controls
Long Advanced: 8.7 km and 28 controls
The event is starting from the Constance Bay Community Centre.
