Map: Cité des Jeunes

Meet Director: Cherie Revells | Controller: Jennie Anderson

We'll be in Gatineau Park this Sunday for our regular Sunday morning event. Since it is Mother's Day, you have permission to drag your kids along with you or leave them at home and enjoy the woods yourself!

We'll use the new Cité des Jeunes map again that was used in the Fall for O-Fest. Detailed contour lines and many rock features make a course on this map a challenge both physically and mentally. Read the mapper's notes below if you didn't make it out to O-Fest.

The first half of the course will be on the rocky ridge that was used for the rainy Middle event and the second half of the course will be in some of the nice runnable woods that was used on the Long event.

Courses:

  • Beginner: 2.9 km / 12 controls
  • Easy Intermediate **: 2.9 km / 11 controls
  • Intermediate **: 3.5 km / 12 controls
  • Short Adv: 3.9 km / 13 controls
  • Long Adv: 7.2 km / 21 controls

** Note that there are two intermediate courses for this event. The Easy Intermediate has controls 5-10 m off trail, but visible from the trail. It's the next step up for kids that are comfortable running the Novice course, but aren't quite ready to do Intermediate on their own. The other Intermediate course will be a more typical Intermediate course where the route is most often along trails, but the controls require some map reading knowledge off-trail.

The start is at the Relais plein air du parc de la Gatineau (397 Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes, Gatineau, QC). The washrooms indoors open at 10am.
