Organizer: Jeff Teutsch (Coach)

Map: Ottawa U

Parking and meeting point: We will meet at the intersection of King Edward Ave and Osgoode St at the pin here for a 6:30 start. Parking is on the street or you can be green and take public transit or a bike.

As this is the last practice of the spring we have planned something fun for this week - A Wordle-based orienteering event inspired by some club members that set a similarly inspired course as part of a birthday gathering. Let's call it O-dle. All are encouraged to join us for drinks and food at the Father and Sons Restaurant after practice.

How it works:

There will be roughly 20 controls scattered score-o style across the map. 5 of those controls make up the course you are trying to find. Just like in Wordle each person will have several attempts to figure out the course by visiting 5 of those controls. When you come back you will tell one of the coaches what 5 controls you visited in what order and they will tell you which of those controls are not on the course, which ones are on the course but not in the right spot on the course and which ones are on the right spot (just like the green, yellow, and green letters in Wordle). After you get that information you should go out again to find 5 controls in another attempt to find the course. And repeat.

As this is a practice in an urban sprint venue we will be using pinflags to mark the control locations in the terrain.

Reserving maps: Please e-mail Jeff Teutsch at jeff@ottawaoc.ca by noon on Thursday to reserve a map. We do not guarantee maps for those that don't send an e-mail.
