Explore the special terrain of Burnt Lands, a mostly open and flat alvar terrain. Just because the terrain is open and flat does not mean it is easy orienteering. Focus is on compass technique.
As it is fall and sunset comes early, everyone should bring a headlamp. The first couple of weeks it may not be necessary with the headlamp, but later it is a must to have good light. A lamp with at least 500 lumens is recommended.
