Map: Pinhey's Point

Each year we partner with our friends at Pinhey’s Point Historic Site for some family friendly orienteering, great for newcomers, youngsters, families, others who want to try out some short sprint events. We have approximately 6 courses, all short, fast and fun! You can do them all! with a break for a burger and a drink in between. This will provide good sprint training in advance of the 3 sprints at the NAOC events in Kingston.

Registration : 10 am - 1 pm

Courses are open 10:15 am to 1:00 pm;

Finish: Courses close and controls are collected at 2pm. All participants must report to finish by 2pm.

Location: Pinhey’s Point Historic Site (https://goo.gl/maps/McJi2ZUj71aCFBiW7)

Cost: $8.42 per person (tax included) payable to Pinhey’s Point staff upon entry to the grounds. This gets you an unlimited number of courses. Season pass holders will be admitted for free. Note that membership holders who did not buy a season pass will be charged the entry fee.

We will have a few lawn games set up for when you need a break. Kubb – if you haven’t heard of it, you have to try it! Bocce – a classic lawn “bowling” game. And the Go-4-O maze orienteering – last year we had our Team Canada coach Jeff being challenged by some of our young future team members on this maze-like course. A definite must-try for everyone, young and not-so-young.

Pinhey’s Point, in the far west end of Ottawa, on the shores of the Ottawa River, is just about the most gorgeous site you could choose for spending a day outdoors in a park with good food, good friends, and great activities. Come out and make a day of it. Bring friends who have never tried orienteering, bring parents, kids, grandparents too!
