Summer Solstice Event 4 - Rockcliffe Park Summer Solstice Series

The hot temperatures predicted for Tuesday evening will create unsafe conditions for some participants. Therefore, the Rockcliffe Park Score-O is being postponed until Friday June 27, 2025.

As for the pizzas - if you will be coming Friday, please request your pizzas again at the same link http://ottawaoc.ca/index.php/pizza and we will try to set it up again. If you are willing to help with this please contact lorna@ottawaoc.ca. Those who do order by Thursday 8pm will be contacted Friday morning to confirm whether or not pizzas will be delivered.

Our fourth and final Summer Solstice Score-O on Friday, June 27 will take place in Rockcliffe Park. The course will cover most of Rockcliffe Park, from the Governor General's estate in the west to McKay Lake and The Pond in the east. The terrain includes, forest, fields with long grass, mowed lawns, trails, sidewalks and streets with vehicle traffic.

Location:

The registration and start area will be on the west side of Village Green Park at 270 Springfield Rd, Ottawa ON K1M 0K8 Parking is available on local streets nearby or in the lot of the school just north of the Village Green.
This is a standard 28-control Score-O event with a 60 minute time limit. If this is your first Summer Solstice event this year, please work out and remember your score adjustment. This tool will help you.

Important Notes

• Remember to bring a watch so you don’t get points deducted for being late.
• There will be no water on the course, just at the finish.
• This map is on the edge of the Ottawa River, and there are some steep cliffs in some places along the edge of the river - for safety, don't cross any cliffs marked as uncrossable (thick black line with 'eyelashes') - go around them instead.
• Watch out for speedy cyclists on the paved cycling trails.
• If you have not been to an Orienteering Ottawa meet in the past, make the on-site registration faster by completing this pre-registration form 48 hours before the event.

Plan to stay and join your fellow orienteers for a pizza and a freezie. Pizzas will be $5 per slice (or $20 for 5 slices) and you will need to pre-order yours by signing up here - ottawaoc.ca/index.php/pizza. Once the results are in and calculated we will announce the top 10 finishers of the 4 event SS series.
