Summer Solstice Event 1 - Beaverbrook (Kanata) Summer Solstice Series

Our first Score-O is Tuesday June 3rd at Stephen Leacock Public School in Beaverbrook, Kanata. The registration and start location is in the North West school yard. Parking is available in the school parking lot, in the church parking lot next door (Kanata United Church), and on the street. No washroom access is available. Course Notes:
This is a 60 minute race, there will be NO WATER on the course. Please bring a water bottle with you if you think you will need it. There will be water at the finish only.
Beaverbrook road runs across the center of the map and can be quite busy at this time of day. Be aware of this road crossing as you exit the start area to the North. A volunteer will be there to alert you of the crossing. Teron Road on the East edge of the map is very busy so stay on the sidewalk (there is no need to cross this road). Please exercise caution when crossing other minor roads and parking lots.
Respect all out of bounds areas. There are several private condo communities that we must KEEP OUT of (marked with pink hash marks on the map).
Olive Green areas on the map are IMPASSABLE. Do not enter them or even jump over them. Note that map details inside olive green areas may or may not correctly show what is in them.
There are many soccer fields in the area. Soccer field lines and posts may or may not be marked on the map. These fields are not marked as out of bounds but if the fields are in use, you must KEEP OFF.
There have been some changes since the area was mapped. Care has been taken to ensure controls have been placed where the area is still accurately represented. For example some of the following that are not mapped include:
- Some new small biking trails in forested areas
- New structures such as portables, fences and play structures
- Vegetation changes eg. missing trees, new trees and vegetation boundaries.
There may be poison ivy in some of the woods if you are off trail.
Don’t forget to wear a watch so that you can avoid late penalties and make full use of your time!
VOLUNTEER NEEDED: If you will be at the meet but don’t plan to participate, we do need a volunteer to man the Beaverbrook road crossing to ensure runners with their eyes on their map don’t inadvertently run out into the road, especially in the mad dash at the start of the race. - 6:45 Mass Start
- 7:45 - 8 pm Finish - exact time will depend on the start.
