Map: Algonquin College

Hello Everyone,

This week the meeting area will be at Chances R restaurant in the College Square Shopping Plaza on Baseline Rd. This week’s event promises fast courses with very little climb.

Please note that registration will only be open for 30 minutes from 6:30-7:00 .

Please indicate your intent to participate by completing this form so we have an idea of numbers of maps to print.

This week’s sprint event will have three courses:

Course 1: Something new...A warm up course ~1.5 km in length with 10 control sites to get used to the map....This will be on the north side of the map printed on a post card size paper at the scale of 1:5000 used on the event maps. These will be available for anyone from about 6 pm onwards in a ziplock bag outside the restaurant at the back patio. The course will be untimed and marked with flagging tape only. Everyone is cautioned that this is a high traffic area and you should proceed slowly (as with any warm-up) paying close attention and yielding to active car traffic.

The other two event courses will be entirely within the southern part of the map (south of Navaho) and will be using SI timing. The start finish area will be directly across the street from the registration area. Please use the lights to cross for the start and afterwards when you walk from the finish area to Chances R to download.

Course 2: The Short Course:13 controls 1.9 km in length. Most of the course is comprised of short legs which will require quick thinking. The course crosses two main roads. For safety and for the added challenge runners must only cross these roads at the designated crossing areas on the map. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the wandering eyes in the field. Several restricted areas due to construction and ornamental gardens are marked on the map. As with the warm up course please observe local traffic.

Course 3: The Long Course:21 controls 4.1 km in length. As on the short course this course has many quick thinking, quick turning short legs but there are a few long legs thrown in for good measure. This course also crosses the main roads of the area several times. For safety and for the added challenge runners must only cross these roads at the designated crossing areas on the map. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the wandering eyes in the field. Several restricted areas due to construction and ornamental gardens are marked on the map. As with the warm up course please observe local traffic.

Please consider staying around a bit after the event for some good food and company with our Chances-R hosts.

Hope you can make it out

Francis Kawam, Evan Raz and the summer meet team.
