Organizers: Jeff Teutsch (Coach), Stefan Bergstrom (Coach)

Map: Poole Creek - Stittsville

Parking and meeting point: Meet in front of the Johnny Leroux Arena (10 Warner-Colpitts Ln) off Stittsville Main St.

Training: We are ending the fall training season with a fun 'peg relay'.

The exercise is a forked course where there are a number of common controls (in practice a series of courses with a start, finish, and 0-10 controls). At each common control (finish circle) there are 3 sets of maps labeled a, b, and c. These maps are the next part of the course with the start triangle where the map pick-up is. Maps c are always the shortest. Maps b are about 50% longer and maps a are about twice as long as c. There will be x number of maps a and b (probably 3-5 each) at each common control. The first x runners there will pick up a map a with their next part of the course on it. The next x number of people will pick up a map b with the middle length of the next part of the course on it. There will be lots of c maps for the rest of the group to pick up when they get to the control. In other words you should always pick up the longest version of the next part of the map that is available. The system is (theoretically) self-regulating so that everyone will end up with an appropriate length course and should finish around the same time.

We will have a mass start after explanations at 6:50. If you want to do a warm-up (encouraged for those of you that will be running!) you may want to show up early to do so.

Social afterwards: Anyone that wants to can join us at the Main St Pub for end of season drinks and snacks or a meal after the training. The Main St Pub is at the other end of the parking lot so you won't even need to move your car!

A reminder to please e-mail Jeff Teutsch at programs@ottawaoc.ca by noon on Thursday to reserve a map. We do not guarantee maps for those that don't send an e-mail.
