P5 Gatineau Park Fall Series

Our event at Kingsmere (P5) has been rescheduled after the tornado closed Gatineau Park just prior to its original date in September. Due to another group using P5 the same morning, our registration time and start time for this event is one hour later than usual —for this event only! We have been out in the woods checking for downed trees over paths and control locations, and all is well.
This map is a compact area of mostly open mature forest, with areas of intricate contour and rock detail. Parking and registration will be at the P5 parking area. For your travel to the event, check the Gatineau Park website for road closures. They have been cautiously closing the parkways when the temperatures have dropped near zero. Note that October 28th is the last day that the Gatineau, Champlain and Fortune Parkways are open prior to the winter closure, and those parkways close at 5 pm.
Four courses will be offered:
* Novice - 2.5 km, 8 controls, 60m climb (there is a flagged route to follow through open forest for one leg of the course).
* Intermediate - 3.1 km, 8 controls, 75m climb
* Short Advanced - 3.4 km, 13 controls, 120m climb
* Long Advanced - 5.1 km, 17 controls, 170m climb
This map was completed in 2017 from a LIDAR basemap. All courses will be printed at a scale 1:7500 with 3m contours.
Participants on Novice and Intermediate Courses have several course legs that are adjacent to the Gatineau Parkway. Signs will be posted so drivers and cyclists watch for participants; please stay well away from the road and be aware of the traffic.
Registration: 11 am - 11:45 (Note that this is one hour later than our usual registration time!)
Starts: 11:15 am - 12:30 pm. Walk from the P5 parking area to the start is about 500 metres.
Finish: Courses close at 2:30 pm. All participants MUST report to the Download Station by 3 pm to allow time for control pick-up.
