March Highlands Orienteering Practice Thursday Orienteering Practice
April 25th 2019 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Organizers: Jeff Teutsch (Coach), Stefan Bergstrom (Coach)
Map: March Highlands
Parking and meeting point: We will be meeting at the intersection of Second Line Rd and Brady Ave for a 6:30 start. Note that this is not our usual spot for March Highlands.
Training:
The intermediate group will do a map walk with a coach to get a sense of what an experienced orienteer sees and thinks when orienteering off trail.
For the advanced group there will be a 2.3km and a 3.7km course option with a major-event like start procedure. For those competing at West Point this is a great opportunity to go through the warm-up and start procedure and build confidence going into the race weekend. For everyone else, we will discuss how warming up (mentally and navigationally especially) can make a huge difference for you orienteering and give you some things you can do prior to orienteering to maximum your success on course.
Those that would prefer can join the intermediate group map walk.
A reminder to please e-mail Jeff Teutsch at programs@ottawaoc.ca by noon on Thursday to reserve a map. We do not guarantee maps for those that don't send an e-mail.
