Registration and download is at Queenswood Heights Community Centre off Duford Drive. Parking either at the community centre or on the street.

There is a 250m walk to the start for all courses.

Novice: 2.1km, 12 controls

Intermediate: 2.7km, 13 controls

Short Advanced: 4.1km, 14 controls

Long Advanced: 5.8km, 22 controls

The long advanced includes a map flip part way through the course.

There is water (at crossing points or controls) approximately 60% through the intermediate and both advanced courses.

Both advanced courses cross Des Épinettes Avenue twice, which can be busy at times. All courses have a leg through the residential streets toward the end. Aside from that, courses are confined to the forested area.

Note that there are many dog walkers in this area and dogs are allowed to be off the leash in this area. All dogs encountered during course setting have been very friendly :)

Do not underestimate this little map. Bilberry Creek offers detailed and interesting terrain which offers challenging courses. As this is a small area and with a total of 11 courses over two days (Orienteering Ottawa local and Cadets Orienteering Champs), there are a lot of controls set out. Be sure to check your control codes.

The woods are very nice this time of year. Lots of the leaves have fallen leaving the forest very open and runnable in many parts. Parts of the creek bed and slopes are very muddy and slippery.

See you out there,

Robert Graham, Course setter
