Meet Director: Paul Lefebvre | Controller: Mary-Ellen Connolly

Our event this Sunday, October 9th will be at Wesley Clover Parks. We are starting at the Wesley Clover Main Entrance at 401 Corkstown Road (not the campground).

After last Sunday's great event in Gatineau Park with big contours and features, long legs and few trails, we are changing things up this weekend. Most of the courses will be a bit longer to take advantage of the flatter terrain and feature some short fast legs in addition to the usual longer legs. The map has been updated to include all of the new Mountain Bike trails. While this will make navigation easier in some areas, other areas will require greater attention to make sure you are on the right trail. While many of the new MTB trails are on some of the winter Snowshoe trails, not all Snowshoe trails have been mapped, as many of them are not used all summer and can be difficult to see in places.

The Long Advanced map has been extended to include some new terrain. It also includes a marked crossing point at a gate over an "uncrossable" chainlink fence that is around 1.5m high and includes a cross bar half way up on the north side, making it "crossable" for some competitors, should they decide on that route choice. The remainder of the uncrossable fence has been marked out of bounds, so as to not reward better fence climbers over orienteering.

Note that other openings through crossable fences have been marked with ribbons on the fence sections lying on the ground, so pay extra attention in those areas.

We are not allowed in the campground and it is marked as out-of-bounds on the map.

The courses this weekend are:

  • Novice: 2.4 km and 13 controls
  • Intermediate: 3.7 km and 13 controls
  • Short Advanced: 5.0 km and 14 controls
  • Long Advanced: 7.7 km and 23 controls

Only the Long course will have drinking water on it.

The weather forecast looks great for this Sunday, so we are looking forward to seeing everyone out at Wesley Clover Parks.
