Meet Directors and Controllers: Andrew Cornett and Cathy Bakker

The first event of the Summer Sprints series will be staged on Tuesday evening, July 9, with starts from 6:15-7:30pm. Come out and explore some new terrain guided by a brand new sprint map of Collège La Cité and surrounding parks, schools and neighbourhoods. The start and finish will be at Dr. John Hopps Park, 300 Den Haag Drive (map). Parking is available 100m east of the park at École Montfort, 350 Den Haag Dr. Three sprint courses will be waiting for you to discover. Note that the course lengths given here are along the shortest route.

  • Short, 3.2km, 13 controls
  • Medium, 4.5km, 19 controls
  • Long, 5.6km, 25 controls
Map scale is 1:4,000 with 2.5m contours. The terrain is flat and the running surface is either hard ground or short grass.

This event will be excellent training for the upcoming NAOC sprints in Kingston, or WOC in Edinburgh. A great opportunity to sharpen your speedy running, quick map reading and fast decision making skills.
