Terrain/Map
This is a brand new area with a brand new map. We will have limited colorblind versions of the map available at registration.
Standard: ISSkiOM 2019 Rev 3
Scale: 1:7,500
Contours: 2 m
The terrain is typical golf course, mostly long stretches of open land with rows of vegetation between, ranging from scattered trees to thick forest. There are also a couple larger wooded sections that have some trails winding through. The fairways are crossable but may be difficult with the amount of snow we're received recently. The ski O mapping standard uses only the lightest green for forests, any vegetation mapped as such is difficult to cross especially with skis.
The golf course is very flat with less than 20m of elevation gain across the whole area. It has been mapped with 2m contours. Sand bunkers have been mapped as either a cup depression or linear ditch, with the recent snow, some may be difficult or impossible to see. Please avoid skiing directly over these features.
Putting greens are mapped as olive green, some are partially or entirely roped off in the terrain. These are strictly out of bounds, any participant caught crossing these will be disqualified. However, the courses have been designed to avoid them.
In total there are 21 km of trails, most of them snake up and down the fairways with very few junctions and crossings. If there is significant snow or winds leading up to the end, some trails may be blown over and difficult to see and ski on. On occasion the groomers deviate their paths so some trails may be slightly different than mapped.
The ski trails are usually 2-3 meters wide and are well groomed for skate and classic. These are mapped as a solid green line. There are also fat-bike trails which are plowed 1 meter wide by a snowmobile and sometimes have grass or dirt patches. Skiing on them, however, is quite good. These are mapped as a dashed green line. Please give way to any fatbikers sharing the trail. Snow covered access roads are mapped as a thick black line, these are in bounds and generally skiable but may have some gravel on top.

Please be respectful to the Hylands Golf Club staff and other users. They've been very gracious in letting us host an event here and we hope to come back in the future.
