Did you love getting back out in the woods to orienteer last weekend? Are you gaining confidence out there and are ready to improve your game? A great way to continue to improve your orienteering skills is to become a meet director and start setting courses.

To get you on your way, we are offering the O100 training course on Monday April 28 from 7pm to 9pm. This will be a virtual on-line course you can join from the comfort of your own home. Our very experienced meet director Oliver Tabay will be leading the course.

The prerequisites for the O100 training course are to:

  1. Participate in at least five orienteering events, and
  2. Volunteer at 2 events.
(If you haven't been a volunteer at two of our events, we can find you a task at the April 27 event - but you will still be able to run in the event.)

The O100 training is very easy to complete and does not take much time. Completion of the training involves:

  1. reading and understanding the O100 manual,
  2. passing a simple open-book test, and
  3. organizing a simple event, such as a Score-O or Sprint.
We currently have 2 more Score-Os to plan on June 3 and June 24. If you want to reserve one of these dates for your qualification let us know at meets@ottawaoc.ca. You will be paired with an experienced meet director to guide you through the process. Can’t commit to one of those dates? Plan a Summer Sprint in July or August or even wait until next year to setup a course.

If you would like to take the O100 training course, let Oliver Tabay know at officials@ottawaoc.ca
