Our second Summer Solstice event on Tuesday, June 10 will be on a map with three different parks:

  • Vincent Massey, which has a big picnic area with shelters and washrooms, some wooded areas, a bike path along the river, and two busy parking lots
  • Hog’s Back, with fields, woods, cliffs and small trails, and the abandoned Charles Tupper Building
  • Mooney’s Bay, with a beach, grassy picnic area, stadium, and a very big hill

This is a standard 28-control, 60-minute Score-O event. You have one hour to find as many controls as you can.

If this is your first Score-O event this year, please fill out this score adjustment form to calculate your score adjustment and then remember it for your registration.

Location:

The registration and start area will be just off the paid parking lot in Vincent Massey Park: Registration map.

Parking is $1 for 30 minutes, to a maximum of $8.

Important Notes

  • Remember to bring a watch so you don’t get points deducted for being late.
  • There will be no water on the course, just at the finish.
  • Hog’s Back and Heron Roads are uncrossable except for 1 crossing point (underpass) on Hog’s Back, and 2 on Heron (underpass and tunnel).
  • Please be mindful of people enjoying their picnics or walking and biking on the paths.

Schedule

  • 5:30-6:30 Registration
  • 6:15 Mini-clinic for those who are new to orienteering or need a refresher
  • 6:40 Instructions and map distribution
  • 6:45 Start
  • 7:45-8:00 Finish (exact time will depend on the start)

We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

Kumiko Murasugi (Meet Director) and Marketa Graham (Controller)
