Join us for a fun novelty event to cap off the summer season! Predator O

Here's how the format works:

All participants run the same course but start in waves with a head start based on your age class (see table below). After all participants have started, the predators are released… Some specially chosen fast orienteers will run the same course and attempt to chase down as many other participants as they can. Your goal is to make it to the finish before the predators, or see how far through the course you can get before being overtaken. Any participants that are overtaken by a predator may still complete the course.

This format will be used at the Canadian Orienteering Festival this year for the Team Canada fundraiser race. We are running this event to test the format beforehand. Feedback is greatly appreciated! Talk to the meet directors at the event or contact robert@ottawaoc.ca

Venue

Registration is at the Rockcliffe Park Community Centre, 380 Springfield Rd, Ottawa, ON K1M 0C9

Do not park at the community centre. Please park on the nearby streets or use alternate modes of transportation.

Type: Point-to-point

Length: ~3-5 km
Running time: ~20-80 minutes, depending on age class and orienteering ability
Difficulty: Intermediate

Terrain: Mix of forest, parkland, and urban streets
